National Library

In order to support the Ministry of Culture in the National Library Project, the “Lebanese Foundation for the National Library” was created in 2000. The Foundation has been ever since dedicated to the sole objective of renovating the National Library.

In 2003, the Foundation rented a 3,000 m2 area in the free zone in the Port of Beirut. This space was ideal for the storage of the National Library collection. The Foundation covered the rent and maintenance fees of the spaces. The Foundation also equipped a restoration workshop where damaged books and documents were treated. Storing, sorting, cleaning, indexing, and inventorying of collections also took place at the Port.

All this work lasted until May 2018.
